What a finish to 2024!

Web had an excellent turnout for our Christmas singalong on December 15th at St Stephen's and great fun was had by one and all. We also sang in Willenhall town centre, at Manor Hospital and at Cadent HQ .

As usual , Justine , our Musical Director , produced an excellent and varied programme and everyone had to participate! Carols were sung by one and all , some seasonal numbers from the choir and some really good solo peformances.Add to that an all singing effort on 12 Days of Christmas and a bit of fun with December 25th and you may get a flavour of the evening.

We have many photo memories of the evening and a few of them follow.

And  since it was a fun evening , here are a few videos!

Our first Christmas concert of 2024 was held at the Tin Tabernacle in Rushall on December 1st.There was an appreciative audience to listen to Christmas music, sing some carols and witness some light hearted banter! There was tea, coffee and mince pies (and jam tarts!) and a raffle which gave patrons the fortitude for audience participation in the carol singing! A fine evening all round, marred only by a lack of photos of the occasion. We are currently interrogating people to unearth any that may have been taken.

We had another fun evening on October 26th when we performed our

"Autumn Leaves "concert in aid of the Rotary nominated charities.

A good turnout enjoyed a wide selection of song , with some fine soloists, and sea shanties included. There was tea and cookies and a great raffle  and we raised over £700 for good causes. Thanks to all who contributed to a cracking evening!

A few pictures.

An enjoyable evening took place on September 8th, when we celebrated the 45th anniversary of St. Stephen's Church, our rehearsal venue. There was a good attendance , with food and drink and much camaraderie! The audience was appreciative and funds were raised for the church with a tremendous raffle. We also took the opportunity to update the choir group photo which now appears at the head of our website home page.

For some reason we do not have any photos of the proceedings, so if you have any please pass them on to us!!

We had a great night celebrating our 80th Birthday!

There was a good turnout, including some old choir members as well as old friends. It was great to see them all and reminisce about all the fun times we have had. There were old cuttings and photos of the choir recording events over the past 80 years scattered about the social area , and a power point display of much loved faces from our history, many of whom are no longer us.Justine put together a programme that reflected music across our history and there was some community singing too!

All in all, it was a memorable evening and we have some excellent photos to show you.

Our first concert of 2024 was held at Christ the Kingdom Church in Rushall on February 25th. My apopogies for not flagging this event up on the website, senior moment!  Geoff Clews , the concert promoter, deserved better.

The church is unusual but the audience friendly and we gave our usual varied performance which was well received. I believe we raised a decent sum for church funds. And there were a couple of novelty numbers which went down well too! Pictures follow.

The Annual Dinner was held at Oxley Park Golf Club on January 8th and although the turnout was a little lower than previous years , a good time was had by all!

St.Stephen's Church was busy on December 2nd , 2023, when we held our Christmas concert! We had a good turnout despite the poor weather, again! and we sang well. The audience was in good voice too, singing familiar carols. Mince pies and cakes were consumed in large quantity and we made some money on the raffle , which had some really good prizes. We were surrounded by Christmas trees decorated by local organisations for a competition, and they were pretty good. Looking forward to next year already!

Below are a few snaps.

We held a charity concert on October 21st in aid of Rotary charities and we saw a number of new faces in the audience. They enjoyed a varied selection of music, old and new, and we believe the event raised over £700 for deserving causes.Sterling work was done by all the helpers, food suppliers, ( Hilda !) in the kitchen , on the door, and ticket selling. We sometimes forget those who make things run smoothly.

On a sad note, the choir dressed in old gold and black in memory of Kevin Hammond, a much loved choir member, who passed away unexpectedly in September. Some people wore shirts and ties in Wolves' colours. Kevin was a super keen Wolves fan and a powerful addition to the bass section. He will be missed.

These photos may give a flavour of the evening.
